Archerfield House in East Lothian is now welcoming guests to stay at the impressive 16th century property, on an exclusive-use basis. The mansion house, set in the grounds of Archerfield Links, opened its doors to guests last month, following a five-year refurbishment and renovation project.

The historic 15-bedroomed property, whose former guests are said to have included Mary Queen of Scots and Winston Churchill, is available for hire from £4,900 (+VAT). This price includes full Scottish breakfast, three-course dinner and drinks (including wine and spirits).

Each of the individually designed bedrooms has been painstakingly restored to its former glory, each with a distinctive Adams fireplace and carefully chosen antiques. The en-suite bathrooms are equally impressive – many of them featuring roll top baths and incredible views of Fidra Island, the island featured in Robert Louis Stevens classic novel, Kidnapped.

Archerfield House also offers 12 sumptuous Golf Pavilions, adjacent to the main house, which are ideal for smaller groups on a golfing break. Each Pavilion is self contained complete with a relaxed living area and can be hired on an individual basis from £200 per room.

Guests staying in either the House or the Pavilions will also be able to book limited tee times on the two private members golf courses at Archerfield, the Fidra and Dirleton Links.

Fay Angus Knowles, House Manager of Archerfield commented, “We have always said that at Archerfield We play a different game and I think when guests see the house they will see what we mean. The style of the house is to follow guest’s preferences – it is important that guests feel relaxed and treat the house as their own.

She continued, “I am confident that what we offer is second to none. The house and the pavilion rooms are already proving popular with both corporate and private clients and we are delighted with the feedback received so far.”
