Goldsmiths’ Fair

The 24th Goldsmiths’ Fair (October 2-8) is the only event in Europe specifically devoted to precious metalwork.

The 24th Goldsmiths’ Fair (October 2-8)  is the only event in Europe specifically devoted to precious metalwork. It gives members of the public a chance to meet leading artists and designers from around the UK, view and buy their wares, and spot hot new talent. Approximately 90 jewellers and silversmiths take part in the fair, spanning both classic and avant-garde ends of the design spectrum. Five up-and-coming graduates have been given free stands to make their debut this year.

The fair is held in the handsome premises of Goldsmiths’ Hall on Foster Lane, headquarters of one of the City of London’s twelve great livery companies. The Goldsmiths’ Company devotes itself to promoting excellence in design and craftsmanship in jewellery and silverware, and is also responsible for the hallmarking of gold and silver items through the London Assay Office. This statutory duty dates back to the year 1300.
