Liverpool Performs in 2006

Liverpool in North-West England has launched Liverpool Performs 2006, a year-long celebration of the city’s outstanding track record in the arts, sport and business – the latest in a series of themed years leading up to the city’s role as European Capital of Culture in 2008.

Liverpool in North-West England has launched Liverpool Performs 2006, a year-long celebration of the city’s outstanding track record in the arts, sport and business – the latest in a series of themed years leading up to the city’s role as European Capital of Culture in 2008.

Key events include its first Disability Sports Festival; the Open Golf Championship returning to Royal Liverpool for the first time in almost 40 years; and the fourth Liverpool Biennial International Festival of Contemporary Art. The city will also host two important European premieres over the course of the year: Super Vision, an incisive look at the world of surveillance (May 4-6) and Mike Roussel’s The end of Cinematics – ‘a super sensual encounter with a look at film rarely experienced’.
